Integrated Neuroimaging Suite

The Integrated Neuroimaging Suite is a multi-million-dollar research facility located in the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health at the University of British Columbia. This unique suite will accelerate brain research and drive critical advancements in neurodegenerative diseases. The suite houses two different models of advanced research MRI scanners, making this cutting-edge centre a first of its kind.

Zenith’s role included overseeing the integration of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, and life safety components under this project into the existing building systems and ensure that services are tested and operating in preparation for the installation of the MRI scanners by their respective teams.

The unique challenge of this project was the cutting-edge technology. Both the 3T MRI and PET scanners, as well as the state-of-the-art heat pumps, were the first of their kind in Canada, requiring direct manufacturer involvement to ensure optimization of this unprecedented project. Zenith collaborated with all trades to find effective solutions to integrate different and new technologies, and in the troubleshooting the existing base building systems to accept the new and advanced systems. Our team also worked with the facility staff to bring the team on board to the new protocols and requirements.

Through foreseeing potential issues, understanding the systems integration and by empowering trades, Zenith provided value within the UBC commissioning mandate.
